A downloadable game for Windows

Welcome to Tecgen Industries. We’re so happy to have you back.

After your month-long absence, we’re really glad to see you again. We also hope you’re ready to get stuck in, as we have an assignment for you. If you could check through the attached PowerPoint for typos and issues, that would be great. A nice simple task to get you settled back in- just ignore the mysterious disappearance of the guy who made it, and the fact that no one will talk about where he went, even though he’s right here-

…Our apologies. That won’t happen again.

Regardless, we hope you enjoy your time here with the company. We value transparency above all else- so surely you’d know if we were hiding something, right?

Right. Let’s get to work.

Before you play:

You need to run a script for this game to work! The script will get flagged by Windows Defender but we promise it’s not a virus. In the interests of transparency, you can read the code here (but spoilers beware!)

To get past the Windows Defender warning, click “see more” and then click “run anyway”.

Please read the readme before you start! Not only does it have important instructions, but it’s also important for worldbuilding reasons. (The best reasons, in our opinion!)

Also, this is a game made in PowerPoint- try not to scroll down or it’ll ruin the magic. You’ll also need to have PowerPoint installed to play.

And, finally, this is a horror game that discusses ideas of body horror and unethical medical experiments. If you find either of those uncomfortable, please don’t play.

Features:

  • A game made in PowerPoint (novel)
  • A whole bunch of original art (pretty)
  • Some spooks and scares (aaa!)

This game was made as part of the Games Innovation Challenge 2022. This is more of a demo/experimental game than a full-length completed game! A completed  version is planned to be released in the future. Please let us know if you run into any issues.

thank you so much!!!

I assume something was supposed to happen when I deleted the powerpoint, but nope. Opening it up with notepad++ It shows a bunch of "NULL" and "This program cannot be run on DOS"

No idea what that's all about. But still, it was engaging and fun to play through! Feelin inspired to make my own now, lol :3 If there's ever a playthrough of what the exe is supposed to do, please let me know!!

sorry for a late reply!! ah, yes something was supposed to happen :( that's unfortunate, thanks for letting us know though! and we really appreciate your feedback, thanks for playing our game! here is a playthrough with the exe part at the end:

thank you again!

For an experimental short game made on Powerpoint, I think the idea is pretty  neat! I've always wanted to play a horror game with a corporate artstyle, and this manages to capture that clean yet unsettling feeling really well. It can probably be turned to a longer, fleshed out game with more plot and lore.

hey, thanks so much for this feedback, and for playing our game!! we really appreciate it. yes, we plan to create a full version at some point, but unfortunately we are both quite busy with other things at the moment. :( this was made in about two weeks as we joined the jam late, and I had deadlines at the same time ;_; we would love to fully flesh out the story - so hopefully this is on the cards for the near future. thanks for checking out our demo, and sorry for a late reply!
